Recommendations from famous authors.
1. Stephen King
The Raj Quartet by Paul Scott

This is an epic 4-volume series about the final dramatic, whirlwind years of the British Empire in India. This is some heavy reading that may keep you busy until the end of the year of 2015, so pace yourself.
2. Zadie Smith
The Bathroomby Jean-Philippe Toussaint

It's deffinitely full of toilet humour as we meet a young Parisian researcher who lives inside his bathroom.
3. John Green
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart

Coming of age story, which follows 16-year-old anti heroine Frances as she works to make her mark within the secret, male-only society at her NewEngland boarding school. Juicy!
4. Gillian Flynn
Deep Water by Patricia Highsmith

Author of Gone Girl is a huge fan of this novel. "The things that are suspenseful, that I find frightening, aren't someone jumping out of a closet or those kind of big scares, but instead that slow build of dread, and [Highsmith] does that really well. She kind of takes you by the hand and walks you toward the cliff."—Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl
