After the long wait, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally submitted the list of his cabinet to the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
21 names were sent instead of 36 and Buhari confirmed this during his Independence Day speech saying that more names would be sent to the Senate soon.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki has however said that the names on the list cannot be officially revealed till the next Senate plenary session on October 6, 2015.
According to Sahara Reporters, these are the 21 persons whose names are on the list:
Dr. Chris Ngige (Anambra)
Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti)
Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers)
Babatunde Fashola (Lagos)
Abdurrahman Dambazau (rtd) (Kano)
Aisha Alhassan (Taraba)
Ogbonaya Onu (Abia)
Kemi Adeosun (Ogun)
Abubakar Malami SAN (Kebbi)
Senator Sirika Hadi (Katsina)
Barrister Adebayo Shittu (Oyo)
Sulaiman Adamu (Jigawa)
Solomon Dalong (Plateau)
Ibe Kachikwu (Delta)
Osagie Ehanire (Edo
Udoma Udo-Udoma (Akwa Ibom)
Ahmed Isa Ibeto (Niger)
Ibrahim Jibril
Audu Ogbeh (Benue)
Amina Mohammed (Kaduna)
A source told DAILY POST that Chris Ngige’s name came in at the eleventh hour. According to the source, President Buhari, who has been constantly accused of marginalizing Ndigbo over their refusal to support him during the election, didn’t have it in mind to appoint Ngige.
“Ngige was not part of the first list of people compiled, I can tell you that. His name came at the eleventh hour. The president had a change of mind because of the complaints in many quarters that he was punishing the south-east region because of their refusal to vote for him during the election.
“It took the intervention of some close associates and aides for the appointment of Ngige,” the source added.
