Thirteen people have been killed in a college shooting in a rural Oregon community, US, say local officials.
Oregon's attorney general said 13 were dead, including the attacker.
Oregon State Police said: "It is believed there is only one shooter who is no longer a threat." Local media report the shooter went from class to class in the science building, opening fire. Authorities patted down students at the scene to check no other shooter was at large.
The Douglas County Sheriff's office said the shooting was reported at about 10:38am local time.
A fire official tweeted earlier: "Active shooter at UCC. Please stay away from the area".
Lorie Andrews, 57, who lives across the road from the campus, told the Oregonian she heard shots. She estimated some 20 ambulances and 75 police cars poured into the area.
Agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are among those who responded. The White House says President Barack Obama is being briefed about the latest US mass shooting.
The State Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum tweeted: "Our hearts go out to the entire Roseburg community, especially the families of the victims of this unspeakable tragedy."
According to pro-firearms control group Everytown for Gun Safety, this is a recorded 142nd school shooting since the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary, Connecticut, in December 2012.
