MUM ABANDONS TRIPLETS AT HOSPITAL BECAUSE 'SHE CAN'T AFFORD THEM'

Jeaneta Bente, 32, left daughters Alexandra, Isabela and Cristina at the maternity ward in Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Romania, shortly after giving birth to them three weeks ago. The identity of the mother has only just come to light after the story made headlines across Romania weeks ago.

Bente eventually came forward, and explained to the media that she already had three children and couldn’t cope with raising another trio.

“I hope people can understand that I just don’t have any possibility to feed or care for them,” she reportedly said.

“But I wish them the best and hope they have a better life than I can give them,” she added.

The triplets are reportedly all in perfect health despite being born prematurely. Since locating the mother, Bente has agreed to the process of adoption.

The infants are now being transferred to a children’s home, and will eventually be placed with a foster family.Hospitals in Romania have reported an increasing number of babies being abandoned, with all the mothers saying they can’t afford to look after them.
