Families have lost property and have been displaced as a result of a heavy downpour on Sunday night in the city of Kaduna.
Areas affected by the flooding include, Barnawa, Anwagwan Rimi, Kigo Road, Kabala Constain, Rafi Guza, Kudendan, Angwan Dosa and Karatudu.
Rescue agencies like the Red Cross, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Civil Defence Corps have mobilised to assist victims. Spokesman of SEMA , Mallam Abubakar Adamu Zakari, said rescue agencies were having a hectic time trying to rescue people.
"We have divided ourselves into groups to be able to reach out to all the affected places. At the moment, I am not in a position to give you any casualty figure until the groups compare notes.
“But the flooding is massive and we are trying to rescue people who are trapped in their homes" Zakari said.
