HID AWOLOWO DIES AT 99, 2 MONTHS TO HER 100TH BIRTHDAY

Wife of the late sage and first premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, died yesterday at her country home in Ikenne, Ogun State. Mama would have turned 100 years old on November 25. She was the last surviving wife of the late Obafemi Awolowo.

In a statement made by the family, they announced her passing: "With gratitude to God for her remarkable and illustrious life, the entire Awolowo family announces the glorious home calling of our dear Matriarch."

"Mama died as gloriously as she lived," they added.
